The Eastern Conference has won 38 Finals and the Western Conference 32.

The National Intercollegiate Basketball Tournament was first held in Indianapolis in 1922. A rival organization, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), held its first tournament in 1939 and the two tournaments co-existed for a number of years with some teams even playing in both! By the 1960s the NCAA version had become the premier tournament.

In Game 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals the Chicago Bulls beat Utah Jazz by 96-54, a 42-point margin. Michael Jordan supplied 24 of the Bulls points. The other games were much closer but the Bulls took the series 4-2.

The Golden State Warriors went 73-9 in the 2016 regular season losing only once each to the Bucks, Mavericks, Nuggets, Pistons, Trail Blazers, Lakers, Spurs, Celtics and Timberwolves. They made it through the playoffs to the finals where they lost 3-4 to LeBron James and the Cavaliers.

Stephen Curry is in both first and joint second for 3-pointers. In 2016 he led the Golden State Warriors to a 116-106 win over the New Orleans Pelicans netting 46 points including thirteen 3-pointers. In the same year he made twelve 3-pointers against Oklahoma City Thunder joining the Raptor's Donyell Marshall (2005) and Kobe Bryant (2003).
